Three simple steps to keep your WordPress website safe: avoid nulled plugins/themes, keep everything updated, and maintain regular backups.
WordPress is the world's most popular CMS β which also makes it the most targeted platform for hackers and malware. The good news is that securing WordPress doesn't have to be complicated. Here are three simple but effective tips.
1. Never Use Nulled Themes or Plugins
Using pirated (nulled) themes or plugins is strongly discouraged. Beyond losing support from the official developer, nulled versions are frequently injected with malicious code by bad actors.
Only download themes and plugins from:
- Your WordPress dashboard directly (
wp-adminβ Plugins/Themes) - The official website of the third-party developer
Free themes and plugins from official sources are perfectly fine. If you want a premium product, purchase it legitimately β never use a cracked version from the internet.
2. Keep Everything Updated
Make sure WordPress core, your theme, and all plugins are kept up to date. Updates regularly include security patches that close known vulnerabilities.
Consider enabling automatic updates in your WordPress settings for convenience.
3. Keep Regular Backups
Always maintain at least one recent backup of your website. Backups can be downloaded from the Backup section in your Digitalku cPanel.
A backup is your safety net β if something goes wrong, whether accidentally or through an attack, you can restore your site quickly.
