VPS digiOS uses LXC Container system, not a classic VM like Windows VPS. Therefore, the appearance and way of reading the CPU is a little different, but more efficient and honest about actual usage.
How CPU Works on a digiOS VPS (LXC Container)
In container systems, CPU can be seen as being used (e.g. 10–20%) even if the VPS is newly opened.
This normal and no problem.
The cause:
- Basic container service is immediately active
- The monitoring system has been running since the beginning
- More real-time CPU readings
⚠️ Don't focus on the total CPU number, The most important:
- The application runs smoothly
- Responsive and stable server
CPU Sharing Example
Package 1 Core:
- The system displays 2 Cores
- Each core is limited 50%
- Total remains equal 1 full Core
How to read:
- Early CPU 0% → maximum 50%
- Early CPU 50% → maximum 100%
This is container resource sharing mechanism on digiOS
Why LXC Containers Are More Efficient

- No additional OS
- Without virtual hardware
- CPU is used directly from the host
- More efficient and stable resources
Therefore, even though the CPU appears active from the start, application performance is more optimal.
How CPU Works in VM (Windows VPS)
On Classic VM, even though in Task Manager the CPU is visible 0–5%, it doesn't mean the CPU is completely empty.
What actually happened:
- The physical CPU is already shared at the hypervisor level
- This division not displayed inside VM
- VM only sees virtual quota, not host CPU state
In addition, Windows VM has hidden load:
- Virtual CPU & virtual hardware
- Additional scheduler
- Built-in Windows services
As a result:
- CPU looks empty
- But when the application needs CPU, the response can be slow.
- Because the physical CPU is actually being used by another VM
Key Differences
| LXC Container | Windows VM |
|---|---|
| CPU appears active from the start | CPU looks empty |
| More real use | Many hidden burdens |
| Lighter | Heavier |
| Consistent performance | Performance may fluctuate |
Conclusion
- CPU appears active on digiOS VPS that's normal
- Focus on application performance, not CPU numbers
- LXC Container more efficient, transparent and stable
- Windows VMs often look lightweight, but they are actually divided up behind the scenes.
That's the reason why digiOS VPS uses LXC Container for more optimal performance.
